When do I get the endorsements?

Hazmat, tankers, doubles/triples a must . Take them all when you take your CDL, or else you will have to pay again when you take those later.

 

I would study and/or memorize some of the Hazmat, those are little more difficult. The others are a walk in the park.

 

I have never done the CDL test ever. I have only do the Hazmat for a challenge. I don't have any need for it. They didn't have CDL back in the day when I took my test. I think it was a Class 1 back then.

 

Dont know about the haz now a days, but tank/double triple are general knowledge for dealing with same, so the tank test may ask questions about surge, and double might ask about how to avoid cracking the whip ect...

 

You test for them when you get your permit, if you pass them, they are listed on your permit and will be transferred to your cdl upon passing the road test. Otherwise, you go to the dmv with your cdl, test on the computer, and if you pass, you pay for a new license with the endorsement.

 

The tanker test is real easy.I read the chapter only once and passed.The hazmat test takes a lot more studying and the. longestt chapter in the CDL manual..Start studying for them now so you have them before you're finished with school.

 

That's a good question.I think you can take those test anytime and once you get your CDL the DMV will put your endorsements on it but you should ask them to be sure.
