I dont know why anyone would volunteer to have some inspector go over their truck. Can't you do it yourself? The only way they look good is to put a bunch of people out of service. That means more money for them next year.Usually I route myself thru the house and go fishing for 3 days. This year I will probably get a room and play poker online.Good luck to those that volunteer

Sounds good, but CSA 2010 is coming up. All that &*$# that shows up on an inspection (warning ticket) will reflect on the driver's record. Regardless of whether you asked for the inspection or not. So, go ahead and take that junker into the scale and ask, dimwit.

That is why I feel the entire issue is wrong. The driver is in a no win situation.

The MAIN reason drivers dp pull in and ask for an inspection is the POS drive by of a company isn't fixing or repairing things the driver deems needing repairs according to FMHA rules. They asked and the company said no and I've seen some of the crap companies will make the driver drive in an unsafe situation! Tires into the 3rd cord! Cut in sidewall of steer tire, brake shoe actually hanging on by the top spring, air lines with duct tape! and the list can go on!

The driver is the one who is driving and inspecting the truck and he should be the one who knows unless a mechanic who PERSONALLY inspected it can say if it's safe or not. NOT some mechanic 1000 miles away who "can see in his ming" how the tire or whatever looks and can decide to let you run on bad tires, broken springs or bad brakes! You are the only one with the key in hand and the truck and you "just say no to junk truck driving!" Heck tel the yoyo who tells you to drive it you lost the key and need the shop mechanic to come out there with a new tire or whatever is needed to fix this POS and oh bring a key so I can start it!

But, there's always a butt! Maybe all of these companies will realize that with these new rules coming in and it's going to effect them even worse than the old rules they'll start getting the equipment fixed! BARRRRRRAAAAAAWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

It happens every year about the same time. The scales are open 72 straight hours with many bears.

Thanks Roadmedic!! but what are they looking for that would not be found on routine inspection? Or is this just a way -once a year- to try to clean stuff up? This would by my husband's first blitz as he's new- but his most recent DOT inspection (week or two ago) was fine and he just got 8 new tires Friday. He does his PTI and inspects every time he gets back in the rig. Just want to see if I can give him any more information to prepare.

Starts on the 8th. I don't think we'll see more than we already do. Just scare tactics.
Our company is scared chitless warning us about it.

Make sure you log that 900 miles you run straight through correctly. :biggrin_25523:

so basically it's a way to get companies to get their sheet together once a year? so how much will this inconvience a driver? In that I mean will you be sitting and waiting hours and hours -or even more?

They will be looking to see if the logbook is accurate. They will be checking out the truck. It is nothing more than a big version of the routine checks.

More bears there, more chances. It makes some of the companies take notice and try to get the trucks in order.

    Just another thought.

Maybe we should be looking at the police logs to be sure they are not putting in excessive hours.:biggrin_2559:
