If myself and another driver are salaried at exactly the same amount, yet I'm working 55 hours a week PLUS being on call saturday while the other driver gets the SAME pay to only work 35 hours week, I would have a serious problem with that too.

I would demand something be done about it, or I would look for greener pastures.

Thanks for all of the advice guys!

I had a talk with my dispatcher and they still don't have a plan moving forward. No talk of hiring a replacement yet. In fact my dispatcher is now saying when/if they do hire someone that we will be rotating working Saturdays with no plans of returning to the two days off every weekend like we used to have. Not sure why the change other than making it easier on the dispatcher.

A couple questions. Is the dispatcher your actual boss? If not do you have a good relationship with the boss? My dispatcher will run me ragged if I let him. Fortunately my actual boss is his also. So if he gets too carried away i can go above him. If he's the main guy you've done all you can do by the sounds of it. I'm with you on the sat deal. You cant pay me enough to work steady saturdays. And 55 hours a week is plenty in my mind. Spread over 6 days just makes it worse to me.

I think I would look for a job, and tell them I'm taking two weeks vacation.

I'm guessing that after two weeks, the situation will be much clearer to you and to management.

it's a small company so the dispatcher is technically my supervisor but there is a bigger boss with whom I have not spoken with. I do know the bigger boss from the oilfield days. I trust him and he is agreement with my point of view. My shame is I did not reach out to him sooner. But like I said earlier. I was wanting to get my car loan from just being current to about a year ahead where I am now. I also went this far with the hopes that they would re-instate the banned driver. Shame on me and shame on the company for hinging all hopes on that driver getting back in.

Good news is I have spoken with HR and as along as I give two weeks notice they will pay me for all vacation time I have remaining; 2 weeks.

Well it's been about 11 months........
i did give two week's notice to my company. They accepted it but about a week later they offered me a temporary job in Dallas to cover for a driver who was diagnosed with a cancer like condition. The terms were a two month extension to my employment while they evaluated the other driver's condition. That two month extension has now been made into a permanent position in my home town.

Only hindsight is 20/20. Guessing what the future holds is more difficult but just realize that you can be the agent of change if your situation compels you.

And how are things at that new position?
Are you getting the home time you want/need for your family?
Is the pay you're now getting worth the work you're now doing?

Give us some details I know I'm interested in what is going on after having just read this thread. Do you know if the banned schmuck still has a job there?

Well the driver that got banned from Mr. Big Customer is still with the company and doing all of the other runs around Houston but also the further runs to San Antonio and deep south Texas. i saw him at our east Texas yard while i was covering for a guy on vacation. He wouldn't even say hello to me...haha. The guy that replaced me has already quit and the guy that replaced him is currently on sick leave so we'll see if he comes back. I trained my replacement's replacement and he seemed very capable so I hope he returns.

I'm doing well in my new position. The fly in the ointment is the dispatcher is also one of the drivers. You can imagine who gets the easy runs but I'm home every night and able to help my folks out around their house. There are 6 hour days and then there's an occasional 13 hour day but overall I'm much happier. There's three of us here so it's easier to spread the work load around.

Thanks for the interest and reading this thread. There's some good advice from the drivers in this thread so I thank them again as well. Be safe out there!
