wow, I guess I wised up early, I'm a big dude and when I jump off a flat it hurts my feet. I just go to the back and step down onto the ICC bar to the ground.

My wife is a case in point. As an Administrative Assistant, while she may only have to be "in the office" from 0830 tuntil 1700, she is often planning, brainstorming, and otherwise working on ideas. This is her strength and what she enjoys doing, and is #### good at it. So the more I think about it, the more I believe your comparison is flawed. I think I know what you're saying (in you're heart you are a ____________), but it hardly applies to just trucking. -
I agree,when I was a forklift op.,I thought about the next day at home,and as a welder,and as a roofer,(especially a roofer) so,I do not understand...EVERYONE takes their job "home" with them...

So your telling me that the guy that is flipping burgers at McDonalds is taking buns and beef home with him to make McDoubles at home? My actual point is, if you take your truck home, especially with a load, the entire time you are off, you still have somewhere to be. I know, a banker has to be work at 9am Monday morning, but do you, as an OTR driver have to be at a delivery at 9am every monday morning? If you do, where do I sign up?lol.

I take loads home with me fairly often....But when the truck is parked and I'm off doing whatever I'm doing, I don't give it a second thought.
Everybody has "somewhere to be" at some point, The banker, the lawyer or the guy flipping burgers at MacDonalds all have a schedule that they deal with.
Those people have a different schedule than I do but it's not like I'm never able to just relax and not be a trucker.
My brother in law is the C.E.O. of a big Computer company in California....He brings his work home with him all the time and is always thinking about "business" even when he's on vacation...He's a lot more tied to his "job" than any driver that I know of.
He thinks what I do is cool and that it's nice to be able to park it and forget it for the weekend when I get home.
The analogy about the MacDonalds guy taking home a bunch of burgers and cooking them is kind'a silly too....Think about it, When your truck is parked and you're at home...Are you driving it, Working on it? Sleeping in it? or doing any other work related task other than knowing that you have a delivery to make in a couple of days? -
That's true. I've got to pick up a load in town tomorrow morning and have it in Joplin by 11am. All I really have to worry about is remembering to do my laundry and going down to the store to buy a broom.
