Interesting, I will try the tongue thing but not sure how to relax my eyes. Maybe ill try one of them natural sound machines and see how that works.

I slept better on those old shipboard hard bunks or canvas bunks, than I ever did in the truck. The old USS New Jersey (BB-62) had more comfortable bunks than the newer frigate I was also on. Started out as airdale/helo aircrew and got out as NC1.

Maybe ill try one of them natural sound machines and see how that works. Actually it should work very well. It makes hearing noise outside the truck harder to hear, such as reefers, APU's, etc.

    DR prescribed lunesta.
7-8 hrs. good sleep, and Im good to go.I had problems for years sleeping working 2nd and 3rd shifts.
I think I broke my sleep clock.Over the counter sleeping pills kept me groggy waay to long.
Lunesta has worked great for years, but you need a full 7-8 hrs sleep to take it.Benadryl also helps
some folk, but also kept me sleepy after waking up.
    Try lunesta,or the generic version.

Forgot to mention a loud fan keeps me sleeping good since i was a kid.Maybe try that

Try keeping your work day within the same hours everyday. I know at times this is hard as a driver but if you can work around a set of hours your sleep should improve.

I have tried it along with ambien and cr all left me groggy. The best pill I found was over the counter and it was made my Tylenol, it was called simply sleep. They pulled it from the shelves due to a recall and never brought it back. I do sleep with a fan nightly. I can't handle total silence, it makes the voices in my head louder.

I prefer the rest areas out west in Montana and such.

Most trucks shut their engines off at night when it's cool and you can open up your windows and listen to the coyotes and other wild life.

Pilot has curtains for the windshield and side windows ($30). I put that up and I'm sleeping alot better. I didn't realize how much the headlights thru the windshield was bugging my sleep.
