County Sheriff opened with a similar line on me when I was hauling water in ND. I was carrying about 9,500lbs more than we were permitted for -- SOP at my ragtag outfit -- & was facing a hefty fine... I glanced down at my gut, sighed, & looked as disheartened as I could and sheepishly said "I know, I really need to start eating better." & adding after a pause "but my medical card is current!"

That deputy turned bright red & started stammering "no wait, I didn't mean..." before saying "forget it, have a nice day."

I only hauled legal weights after that (& quickly came to the realization that OTR paid almost as well with much better scenery & conditions).

We had an inspection Leo around here that just licks his chops when he sees a log truck. A few months ago it was my turn. I was polite to the point of nausea. He rubber gloved me, weighed me and let me off with a written warning for not having enough reflective tape on my push bar. That stuff gets rubbed off easy as pie depending on the mud snow situation. I thanked him and went on my way. The other stick haulers called BS. So I had to start carrying a copy of the warning. (This guy usually finds a way to fine you).l maybe caught him on a good day but being polite won't kill you and it sure can't hurt.

When I get pulled over, I hit the Stealth rocker switch and my truck becomes invisible. It's really fun watching the look on their face as they always turn around in circles looking for me. They eventually walk into the back of my invisible trailer knocking themselves out and I casually drive off.

When in anger, or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout!

Only thing I can add to the nice list of advice is dont remove your seat belt till the occifer sees you wearing it. Some might just assume you never had it on.

First , poop your pants, makes you less fun to be around. If its a lady cop, say " nice nightstick, want to see mine?" that line there will usually get you off. It has failed once or twice. Now if you're speeding and the cop asks "where you in a hurry to?" politely explain to the officer that last year your ole lady left you for a cop and you were scared you " the officer" were trying to bring her back " this can work with male or female cop nowadays". Use these methods and you should be safe. If all else fails finish your beer, throw the bottle at them and get the hell out of there. Please be advised I am not a lawyer and a good lawyer may give you conflicting advise. Good luck.

Most likely because the Virgo or Scorpio don't have red lights and siren on their car? Unless they happen to a Leo as well. . .:biggrin_25522:
