Like I said, I've never seen such a thing. East of the Mississippi, they simply park on the shoulder and turn on their lights. If you see a cop with his lights on and no one pulled over, need to slow down.

But say what you will, #1 rule in driving is IF YOU HIT SOMETHING, IT'S YOUR FAULT!!

We complain about new restrictive laws being made while doing things like this? They also have guns and some like to use them. Best thing if see officers is become Casper the spook and be not seen.

Honestly should have been at least 3 Patrol cars. Not smart at all to try it with 1.

I wonder if this thread would have ever made it this far without the flashing lights? I've seen the maneuver before but not done like that, cop hit truck cops fault.

    DenBob and shogun Thank this.

I agree that officer is at least partially at fault...

But I also believe the driver is at fault... He watched and had plenty of time to react ot the movements of that officer. He should have slowed, moved left, and slowed more still. Instead he all but drove into the officers path, while watching the officer come in his direction.

I drive through there at least a couple times a month, and have seen this manuever many times.

I've been at the front of one of those in CA. Didn't hit the cop. Slowed down. Truck driver is a dummy... especially if, as the article states, the trooper had been doing it for over a mile.

I agree the driver should have slowed down BUT in the video I see it appears the officer is coming from an on ramp, then starts to cross all lanes? If this has been going on for over a mile why is the officer involved coming from an on ramp?

    sevenmph and roshea Thank this.
