    tip.
before taking off the dpf do parked regen. then take dpf out and clean it with water. there will be no mess. you will see brown colored ash comes out and not black soot. 2-3 kg ash will come out.

Could you share a link to the approved Detroit Diesel DPF water cleaning equipment? You said factory? Is this equipment required by dealers or only for reman exchange? If not do you know what equipment dealers are using for maintenance cleaning?

I have seen a video on dtna tech talk forum how dpf gets cleaned. no dealer has that equipment. all used dpfs go to factory( it's in Utah looks like) . it's a big line where dpf gets cleaned by warm water under some pressure , inspected, labeled and packed. Before Detroit dealers were using FSX machines.

Do you have a APU on your truck or you idle?

I've got a 2016 D13. I'm right around 354,000 miles. Already had the dosing valve (7th injector) changed within the specified maintenance interval by Volvo. I don't use any oil, fuel mileage is excellent, etc. Volvo recommends cleaning at 400k miles. Just started the research process on costs, different levels of cleaning tier options, etc. Makes sense to me that I might as well have the nox sensor(s) replaced at the same time? I'm not sure though.

I assumed air cleaning with FSX or equivalent was the only option for on site, but wasnt 100% sure.

I would assume that the ash from water separation equipment would cost more than the machine itself. After all the whole purpose is to contain the ash from going into the environment. If your gonna wash it back to the ground or flush it down the drain it kind of negates the purpose.

I never idle. Okay, maybe about 3 days out of the year.

That’s what I was thinking when I watched some videos on YouTube showing how to clean them at home. I’m surprised the EPA hasn’t forced YouTube to pull them from the web.
