When to Clean/Bake the DPF?

Not to mention trying to sell it or trade. No dealer will take it.

 

Not a Detroit, but with the Paccar MX we are cleaning DOC, DPF, and HC doser every 240,000 along with an overhead set. Cleaning air management sensors, tubes, Venturi tube and intake mixer every 120,000 miles and EGR cooler cleaned as needed basis as of now.
The company we use to clean them is a franchise of DPF Alternatives Clean Diesel Technologies | Sustainable Cleaning Solutions. We have stage four cleaning on them and they are making to a second cleaning no problem. Ones cleaned in past by FSX set up never did. DOC's are starting to see degraded performance after 600,000 miles. Having DPF cleaned @ that point. Talked quite a bit with the guys that do our cleaning and about the waste, and all of it is actually sold because it contains platinum and palladium.
If I was an owner-opreator and had the means to do it myself, I would just do it once a year for planned downtime. If I had someone else do it I would just follow manufacturer times/mileage/hours.

 

Not to scare you, but I worked for a huge leasing company for a brief stint and one box failures were quite common. Guys @ local DPF alternatives were doing quite a few of them able to clean to whole set-up and are having very good success. Local Freightliner dealer use them exclusively.
