    A gallon a week? Heck that’s nothing, on the farm we had tractors that would use a quart or two every day, when doing heavy field work or harvesting.

    Those were farm tractors(Farmall, IHC, Allis Chalmers, etc.) there was one that had the IHC 407 cu in., that for some reason sprung a head gasket leak, engine had 8,000+ hrs on it, when they pulled the head, the mechanic claimed he could still see factory honing marks on the cylinder walls.
