They call us "Professional Drivers", but some are acting very unprofessional. Parking in a handicap space (they are not handicapped), then another truck double parking them and another triple parking. Plenty of regular spaces at this Pilot, but some are just "in a hurry".
I was walking towards my tractor in front of the others and a truck cuts through from the other side straight pasts the two end to end spaces. He misses me by 2-3 inches while he was traveling 25-30. I looked up at the driver, but he wasn't looking at me.
On the interstate tractor trailers are changing lanes in the blink of an eye; cutting off a line of cars. Just an accident waiting to happen.
Rest areas designed for 30 trucks will have 150 in them during the night. This makes it very difficult trying to get out of them at 3am when I start. There are many drivers that park illegally every night (like 75%).
If this is how it's going to be, I'm going to try another profession.
When will the MADNESS ever stop?

It is from everyone thinking the government will fix a problem and the industry not planning ahead, with the population boom that this country has gone into and we are still running with a infrastructure built for the 1950,s. Look at some of the docks we are supposed to get into, they still have the hitching rails for horses.

It seems to be a joke, handicap parking for a truck.
Bakerman, A_C_Cooper, Highway Sailor and 6 others Thank this. -
Some handicaps are not that visual, some has to do with arthritis or bad lungs/hearts. I have seen a lift to get a driver up from the ground to the cab. There is many handicapped drivers out there. It is the ones that have a mental handicap you better worry about.patsy, Prof.Gringo, Steel Dragon and 2 others Thank this.

i have found over my vast years that rookies are fed with lollipop dreams and unicorn farts from the schools.
it will never get better, only worse, till some government agency gets pushed even harder by the general public. i and a few others are nearing retirement, and i could care less anymore.
but if YOU want to save your name and any reputation you have, then get out now.
i'll be guzzling my beers and chips watching the news someday on how all truckers will have to be retrained and start from scratch all over again, and i'll be laughing my arse off.Snailexpress, Steel Dragon, okiedokie and 1 other person Thank this. -
Nobody but HR types & people selling stuff to drivers calls us professional.
I'm mad not that drivers park "illegally" at truckstops but that those illegal spots are the first spots used by the filthiest, laziest drivers even though 2 dozen spots, including several pull-thru spots, are empty. Lazy trainers & lazy students scheme to go their whole life and never back a trailer. They are Richards of the most useless kind.Snailexpress, Broke Down 69, Steel Dragon and 5 others Thank this.
