I see that povs are inherently a greater danger to road safety quite clearly. But once again we're not talking about cars, we're talking about cmvs.
ELDs don't change the HOS, they just make it harder to ignore the HOS.
If every CMV had strictly followed the HOS back in 2004, we'd see a very different rule set and culture by now. By paying lip service to the rules we created a false sense of how the industry works. Customers don't respect the HOS because everytime they push, we fold and let them "force us to drive illegally". FMCSA thinks there is no problem with HOS as freight keeps getting delivered.
When will the MADNESS ever stop?

Yeah I agree, but I am also talking from the point of view of someone who has been forced to take a handicap placard (which I don't know where it is) because of my injuries a year ago. I refuse to use the spots, to me they are for wheel chairs and elderly.
By the way, I hate it when I go somewhere, the parking lot is empty and there is someone in a handicap spot without a permit, I call the cops on them. -
You ought to walk up to them with a bat and make them a handicap...but not all handicaps are visable, some of us are in denial of it and do great most of the time, but then there is those times that hits hard.

I'm not sure if I am on the right thread? Anyhow I noticed last night on i57 south in Illinois from Champaign south near midnight. Every truck stop was full on truckerpath and when I stopped in Marion at the pilot it was way over capacity. Now note I should have been done with my day. But I just drove to the next off ramp when i57 meets i24. I also noticed every rest area, and the Marion weigh station were all over capacity. And I forgot to mention I saw many off ramps full of trucks as well. This seems way worse than recent months. I'm on paper but i bet many elog drivers drove to the next spot to park without being in a cluster. Not sure if this is a mad freight lane right now? Or elog has something to do with this? Or both?

It's been like that for years. Between Mt Vernon and MO heading south and paducah, KY heading east there is a dearth of parking. Marion is a cluster from 1600 to 0700.

Professional compared to the average motorist i guess, still don't make one perfect though some are thoughtless, careless and inconsiderate just like the general public and nothings going to change any time soonDan.S and Steel Dragon Thank this.

Well I could not run all night I picked up at 4pm. And had 709 miles by midnight. So I did not feel like being a cowboy outlaw.Steel Dragon Thanks this.

This industry and the quality of drivers out here anymore went down the poop shoot years ago.
Steel Dragon Thanks this. -
@Gearjammer79
My dispatch knows I run nights,so all my appts are early am.
I bet your dispatch knows you sleep till noon,so you get the 4 pm appts...and cram in a rest area or on ramp..like the other solar drivers.
