are you going to install it and set it yourself or pay someone to do the job for you? if you are wanting to pay, there is no one from chattanooga to atlanta to charlotte that i would let touch a radio that i would buy much less do a hackjob install in a truck.

    just my 2 cents.

I figure I'll let someone else install it. I've always wanted a big radio. Not to talk to someone way out in the Mojave Desert from GA. just something that puts out good and will stomp on any others goof offs that are talking trash in the vicinity.

Antenna to go on a Big Truck?

Get ya a Predator 10K.....This is the "SW" Dual Coil Predator 10K, it was designed just for mounting on mirror brackets on trucks...It tunes at around 56-58" tall and has a life time warranty against anything that may happen to it...So as long as you still have the antenna, if you damage it somehow, you can get replacement parts for it as long as you own it...no reason to have to go out and buy a whole new antenna just because something broke.

Everything on the antenna just screw's together, so any part can be taken off and replaced.

Just Google "Predator 10K Antenna's" to find a dealer...

    Workinprogress1001 Thanks this.

The only one i MIGHT trust is Wolfman at the 164 on I-85. He does decent work on the bench and explains and lets you watch.
His radio prices are too high though and the guys he uses to do installs will tell you everything on the truck needs replaced.

I know he does not clip limiters or hack the radio but does a decent tune.
I had my old Galaxy 44v repaired by him and it has been flawless.

As far as a big radio it depends on how deep your pockets are......you can spend 500 easy on just a radio.
If your not into sideband you may want to look at the General Lee or Connex radios....

I bought my new radio at Bells CB online after talking to them on the phone.......i have been very happy with it.

That's a BIG 10-4! I lived in Fort Walton Beach for a little over 2 years when I was in the AF. We lived in a trailer park. Couldn't afford to run the A/C. We bought a used a box fan (that we still have 38 years later and it still works) and carried it from room to room to stay cool! Funny part is, we love to go back every year when possible for vacation. But stayin on the beach in a nice condo ain't like livin there! Don't think I would ever want to move back to Florida! (I had a Kris 23 channel radio hooked to a Tenna power supply I took out of a 8-Track display at the Goodyear store I worked at when I was in high school, a D-104 lollie pop mic, hooked to a Cushcraft Ringo, when I lived down there. First base station I ever had, and the most fun I ever had!!!!! 1975 - 1977......good CB years!!!! (That is back when a "good buddy" was just a good buddy and not a friggin.......well we won't get into that here.............!)lol
