My prefer d way with a student is to show them the worst first, like your driving at night, traffic, mountains everything for the first week or two, And I will be teaching how to drive so your team mate if you have one will sleep like a baby.
Oh yeah, did I tell you about my cattle prod wired to the seat. But that's only if you can not shift.
And remember I take mine no onions. In n Out is on you for the advise. By the way its kind of a compliment if your trainer naps a little here and there.
And my Fog lamps are for fog, bad weather not open road. -
Well.. I graduted CDL school in Nov. 2009.. and wanted to avoid going to a mega training carrier.. So, I got on with an O/O pulling flatbed.. Well, the deeal was, I was to train with him and then get my own truck.. it turned into him wanting to get married and running as a husband and wife team
so, after months of running flatbed with him and going through some annoying crap.. I got off his truck and was looking for where I wantd to go.. then my father took ill and so I stayd off the road to help him around the house and get better since my mom passed in 2007 didn't want him healing on his own..
Well, in trucking since I had stayed off the road for 4 months after getting of the flatbed truck I ran into the whole "refresher course" thingso, I got a good job and stayed off the road... but, around august of 2013 i was wanting to get back on the road and use the CDL I paid good money for..
Again, not wanting to go with the Big Training Companies I looked, searched and applied to all sorts of smaller outfits.. then, found a small one willing to have one of their drivers who had been a trucker for 20 years train me.. So, I got on the truck and began my Truck Driving career again
Well, this guy was friggin crazy, and had some bizarro episods with him.. but, when it finally got too freaking crazy I got off the truck at a truck stop about 3 hours away from my home.. I called the company, who already knew this guy was going off the deep end.. well, they fired him and asked me to come drive for them as a solo driver.. so I did.. and felt lucky to get a solo gig and getting paid .41 a mile to pull reefer..so, I went and got my truck, and my first load, going from Sioux City Iowa to Laredo TX, had to wait a day in Laredo but got a load going from Laredo to Dallas.. where I sat for days, and so it went.. My truck was always breaking down.. had to kep having it pull started cause the starter was shot.. I would have to leave it running 24/4.. and if it stalled I had to try and find someone to pull start me.. if I couldn't then they would call a wrecker to come do it.. well, it only took a short while to figure out that it isn't worth getting .41 a mile if your not kept rollingso, I quit.. and and decided I would give the Big Training companies a try
I had talked several of their drivers while I was stuck waiting for a load...
So, I called Werner... and because the company I was with had such a bad CSA score, and the guy who trained me had his CDL pulled for medical/mental reasons.. Werner figured they may want to have me go through some training.. I only have to do 140 hours.. where the regular student hours are 275...
However, I am glad that I am getting this training.. I had only evr done paper logs, and I was taught and picked up a few bad habits... so, it is good that I am going through some training hours.. and, I do not regret my decision to come to Werner.. so far they have over delivered on what the recruiter told me and what I expectedSkydivedavec and koncrete cowboy Thank this. -

Well.. I just finished training.. I am currently at a hotel and hoopefully Monday will get assigned my Truck and then get my first load.. yay.. I deliver my first load and then i get to take the truck home and get it set up...
I did get off my first trainers truck.. but, was with a new trainer in short time.. and I am very glad I did.. he was an awesome trainer..
Ladies, I know there is a a lot of concern with going out with a male trainer.. in my personal experience.. My last male trainer was far better than the female trainer in terms of respect, being considerate and hygiene... Do not rule out going out with a male trainer.. there are some good ones out there.. and there is no guarantee that you will be better off with a female.. so, it may not be worth waiting weeks for a female trainer..
Well, I have a few CBT's to do.. (computer Based Training) so that everything will be done and ready for Monday...
I will let you know when I get my truck.. pretty excited.. -
Just because your going thru training, doesn't mean you have to take a bunch of crap from a trainer. They are not god, they are not your boss. They are there to do a specific job, hold them to it.
I went up to the training dept and told them, "I'm paying a lot of money for training. I'm not going to pay for something I don't get."
Make the company live up to their end of the deal or cut them loose. Too many guys {and gals} let the company run their lives. Remember, your not an employee until they hand you the keys to your own truck. -
Trainers are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. Forest Gump.
