16ft box truck rated at 10,000 LB GVWR. The insurance agency told me it is DOT regulated. That means I can not expedite with this truck.

Where does this truck stand? from my understanding any truck over 10,000lb is dot regulated
so if the truck is 10,000. where does it stand?

    There is difference between 9999
    10,000 and 10,001

Insurance agent is treating my truck as it’s over 10,000.
    Who’s right in here?

Insurance guy. Scratch that, it's 10,001lbs. Thats the reason i bought Nissan NV3500's for service trucks. 9300lb GVW. DOT was giving my guys fits in our 1Ton Chevys.

So having a truck that’s rated at 10,000 gvwr won’t be acceptable for expediting?

Why do you need to avoid the ELD to do expediting, why not just get the bigger truck and you know, stay legal?

I’m trying to stay legal okey. With ELD, I’ve to comply with hos. When expediting, there’s going to be a lot of deadheading. I don’t want to be restricted and told when I need to take a break and get told when I’m tired. I want to determine when I want to take my break and rest. That’s why I’m not getting bigger truck

If you cant make money running HOS legally, find something else to do that pays better.

Can you answer without drifting the topic?
Is 10,000lb truck dot regulated or no? Does the truck have to be 9999 and under to be free?
    Thanks
