Why won't they give you a permit for Monday?

 

I didn't book the load until last night and NYC REQUIRES 48 hrs notice to issue a permit. Getting layover pay though, so it's all good.

 

Just an FYI, any truck over 55' or with an 102" wide trailer needs a NYC permit. Any truck over 65' long needs a rear escort as well. This includes interstates in the 5 boroughs and include empty trucks and legal loads as well. Obviously, the compliance rate is near nil, it's just we get more scrutiny with OD loads. The first thing out of NYPD's mouth yesterday at the Throgs Neck was let me see your NYC permit.

Aren't 53' trailers with OTR trucks illegal in the burroughs also?
