Flying J at exit 95 I-65 after a long day. Was informed that my build date at WS has slipped another month and is now November, thanks to the union workers and their post strike efficiency. Gonna reload in the afternoon headed to Laredo 12 wide for Monday.

    SHC Thanks this.

In my opinion, a truck doesn't move out of the Chicago/Northern IN are for less than 3.00/mi. We have a regular move that takes up most of our capacity out of this area. That was shutdown for 2 weeks recently. We were able to book all day long from 3-3.50/mi all inc with other customers. We were hauling steel or small wheeled equipment. Hard to believe you can't book back to the NE for a pretty penny.

im working on it they used to give the drivers the password for ITS but not anymore i believe it is time to ask a favor above dispatches head hehe

I almost had a load going to Laredo for 2.00 a miles not great and certainly cheap but it would of got me moving and through a little money in my pocket but as i was talking to dispatch about it i asked

Me: whos gonna pay my bail?

dispatch: why would u need bail?

me: i know im gonna get stuck down there for the weekend, your absolutley nuts if u think im gonna sit in lareado for the weekend with out atleast checking out near by sights. I've heard the donkey shows are quite interesting lol

dispatch: *silence* ummm you know what we'll send josh with the flatbed there instead he's stuck in elkhart and he goes to church with his wife and kids, i promise i'll find u something better in the AM to run with

Fisher, we have 7 loads a week that come out of S. Bend that go to PA and ME/VT that pay over $3.75 mile. Just have to be able to haul hazmat. I've been looking at doing them, but need to find something on the other end to get me back each week. The agent is seeing what he can come up with as well since I do a lot of his hazmat stuff and would like me to be a go-to guy for him. Problem is that I don't go east of Ohio in the winter lol

yeah we dont touch hazmat unfortunatly

as for coming out only thing i can think of is lumber out of ma/nh/me. PA u got a much better chance out along the top side Connecticut is ehhh we have some direct accounts out of a few machine shops in maine and mass. but they are hit or miss i use to bank going to houston outta maine for no less then 4,000 then from houston LTL my way back up for $4-6000 but it all seems to have dried up only reason why im keeping this step is for that hope the direct gov/military loads pans out i hear all the talk in the world about it but havent seen one load yet aside from that i'd be pulling a 48' flat right now seems like the step is hurting more than it's helping

Last year at this time I was seeing those rates out of CHI/northern IN, but not now. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but for me that area is declining while areas of KY/TN/VA seem to be picking up.

Well just got word that my rate is too high for the ld. going to Dulth.
Well let the other guy who takes it see how much the pilot car and Il. permit will cost them.
At least the broker was honset with me and did not string me along.
Said the shipper thinks they can move it for the rate they have.
I also informed her to have it there Monday Am. might not happen, as of the travel time for Md. on anything over 120k plus Il. travel times for the wkend..
