You didn't come far enough north. I would of bought dinner if you'd of come to Waco.

thats one of those tricky ones. Are you going to be loaded or empty??

I would run IN tollroad to 80/94 and just keep on 80 into Iowa. From there u can go 2 ways.... Either take US61 north into Dubuque and catch US20 west (lots of stoplights on US20) or you can take 80 to 380 north to IA-150 north to US20 and back track a little bit.

I wouldn't say that there is lots of stoplights, going this way you have 3 I believe on 61, then once up the hill and west onto 20 there are 5 maybe 6 before you are out of town, and if you don't go racing up to them you normally never even have to stop.

Myself I would go up I39 from I80 and take US20 from Rockford. It's a pretty nice drive, actually takes you thru the nicest part there is in Illinois. I run that way loaded or empty all the time coming from that direction, its the shortest, easiest, fastest, cheapest way.

20 thru IL is pretty good until you get past Stockton, get's a little curvy after that, but you can honk at my office before you get to east dubuque. Naturally I won't be there, but you can still do it.

I absolutely hate 20 from Rockford to Dubuque. All the curves and little hills UGH. If he is loaded heavy to stretched out then it's not a good way to go either.
And 80-61 is shorter and faster than 80-39-20
