I don't carry normal food, but come winter I have my emergency food. It was the same way working hurricane relief. We'd have guys that didn't stock up anything before they came into the zone, and were worse off than the now homeless victims.
Where is everyone #2!!

I'm in Watertown, SD grabbing some grub and headed to Madison. I myself always carry food. As everyone knows I like to park at shippers receivers and rest areas. Non of which have restaurants. Always be prepared

I carry some emergency rations in the truck. Sardines, smoked oysters, beef jerky, crackers, cookies and stuff like that. It would get me through a lay up.

I used to carry alot more food, but after the raccoon incident the only food that stays in the truck is the canned variety.
I keep the DAK hams and some green beans for my emergency rations. Time to get some more MRE's as well.SHC Thanks this. -
Carrying groceries in the truck is like having fuel in the tanks. It's -18 outside. Had a driver ask me if I was going to leave my truck on when I went inside for breakfast. I can understand trying to be frugal and save money, but getting a service truck to come out to start you costs about as much as a fillup. May as well let her idle.
You need to at the very least have enough provisions for 3 days. Canned goods and crackers will do. I prefer the pull off tops so I don't have to deal with a can opener. Got a microwave, and one of those gas hot plates that they sell in the truckstops (the thing will boil chili in 30 seconds!) I keep a gallon jug of water and a case of bottled water in the truck too. -
What's a DAK ham?

AKA canned ham. Only higher dollar. Better than spam in a can

We go to crane jobs where we sit and wait all day. I don't know how the other drivers can go all day without eating. I was leading 3 other trucks and we were 15 minutes early so I stopped at a gas station to buy more rations for the day, none of the other drivers went inside to buy anything.
Then after we left 6 hours later, they were all whining for me to stop. I said we would stop at a truck stop so one guy could get some air, well one driver couldn't wait and passed me and stopped at a gas station instead because he didn't have a drink to take his meds, so we stopped. There was no hot food but I told him to buy whatever because I wasn't stopping again.
It irks me when other people don't have the courtesy to respect other people's time. If I'm taking the time to drive with you because you don't have a GPS or your new then at least be prepared. One of my biggest irks lately has been babysitting other drivers.lester Thanks this. -
I cook in the truck all the time and fill the cooler at least once a week with fresh veggies and meat , cheese and eggs. Gotta have eggs. Always have a few cans of canned veggies, foil packs of tuna(no draining or opener needed ) and some peanut butter. And a few gallons of water as well.
