I might meet you across MT someplace tomorrow, maybe. Been chasing a squealing belt problem, threw $511 worth of parts at it today to no avail. Going to see if Cat here in Missoula can get it in tomorrow morning, I think it is a bearing in the fan hub that might have the belt misaligned just enough to make it squeal.

Still running away from Oscar. Made it to the Pilot in Murdo last night, cold as **** but clear.

I hate running OD West to East this time of year, lost a day in Montana because just couldn't make it to the Wyoming line and now after some quick calculation I will loose yet another day because of Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina's draconian laws. By the time it's all said and done I will have 9 days on a 3,000 mile trip UHG!

It's cold and wet here this morning. Winter has arrived in the land of the rat. 44 degrees and 20 mph winds. We'll be back in the 70's tomorrow though. I wish my local freight provider would start working in January instead of March!

I left town about 10:30 this morning, squeak free! Took my truck into Inland Truck Parts and Service this morning, they checked out everything and decided that it was the alternator. I'm over in Billings now.

I have an intermittent squeak from my alternator that took me quite awhile to track down. Every time I decide I've had enough of its squeaking it gets quiet.

Well my first day of driving in 2014 went pretty well. Nobody bounced off the steel plates and I made it 450 miles to Matthews, MO at the Loves. Going to play tourist in AR tomorrow and get to run some 2 lane side roads. Should be fun .... Hope to make Carthage, TX by nightfall

    At home still.
Picked the truck up from Interstate Detroit in Altoona yesterday. Cant say enough good things about those guys.
Been working on my little project today, a LSx powered Range Rover.
Had to make an adapter shaft, to go from the 700R4 27 spline output shaft, to the Range Rover 25 spline input shaft.
The make the adapter to bolt everything together securely. Adapter is 3/8" plate, and the tubing is 5'/8" thick wall 5 1/2"!

Not truck related, but I know there are some gear heads in here.
After this is out of the way, get to make brackets for the Fleet Engineers fenders I got.

When they wanted to change the alternator I thought they were nuts, but thought what the heck, I'm willing to change everything on the front of this thing. I still don't think it was the alternator that was doing to actual squeaking, I think it was running tight (at speed) and causing the belt to squeal on the fan hub pulley or the idler pulley. I'm just glad its fixed, that kind if thing drives me nuts.

    MJ1657 Thanks this.
