$2.65 a mile and you buy the permits? Some poor shlep won't be able dial a phone fast enough to get that on his wagon.

Sitting in Juda, Wi with my second load to Texas. Been here since yesterday because Illinois is a little slow with the permit. First one got there in 5 days, I have a feeling this one is going to bite me in the hiney.

Thanks. It's 14 wide so it will make a difference. When I called to setup the pickup the asked me if I had a winch truck ... So I have a feeling things won't go super smooth. I haven't really hauled any oilfield stuff so should be a learning experience.

Be careful if they only have a bed truck. They will want you to remove your neck and then they'll stuff it up on your deck which is a good way to end up with holes in the deck.

That's what I am worried about. The piece is supposed to be 29' long so it will barely fit. Good luck in Casper, I may call you tomorrow if things get too complicated. Ron

So here we go, we had those two double drop connies built and right off the bat I have to deadhead 453 miles to pick up a load. Not bad for a specialized piece of equipment but here's the good part, I'm taking it 7 miles to unload it 7 MILES!! then deadheading back 460 miles. (Yes it's 7 miles in the other direction) Really, I asked as to the though process behind this but the customer demands it has to go in a covered trailer and it's 127" tall so they are paying off the hub from the time I leave my temporary base of operations till I return. I ask "why?", answered with "it has to be covered so that it can't be seen". So then I ask "why not tarp it?" answered with "nothing can touch it". I have no friggen idea what this "it" is but this should be interesting.

I asked again to our CS person if they realize I'm 450+ miles away so the bill for that 7 mile move will be over 900 miles. Well the CS person comes back with "we quoted them approx. 880 miles", sounds good to me so I'm heading out overnight tonight to make my pickup at 08:00 tomorrow.

Rugerfan, saddlesore and passingthru69 Thank this.
