I just talked to my shipper, they said they aren't loading today on account of the snow.
So thumb twiddle mode engage... -
I dropped a silo last summer out in Pa. on one side of the customers building because their pad wasn't ready. They just had another driver deadhead from Wisconsin to Pa. load the silo on the trailer, drive around to the other side of the building, drop it next to their pad and deadhead back to Wisconsin. In certain situations customers will pay out the nose to get their stuff where they want it when they want it.
passingthru69 Thanks this. -
Good thing for stand time!
And this is something I really hope spreads out to other areas of trucking. Pulling a reefer or box, you find out pretty fast that if a receiver doesn't pay stand time, there is no incentive not to just leave you sitting on the corner of the lot for days. -
Yep, and I love customers like that. Just did one of those type moves a couple weeks ago 280 miles deadhead each way to move a trailer load from one side of the site to the other.
-
As predicted, this load is a total cluster. Told piece is 29' but in real life it is 34'. Great it doesn 't fit in the well and will have to be blocked up over the rear wheels. Oh, and the 9 am loading time has now slipped to 1 pm and now they are talking about not shipping altogether. Some days... ...

Truck running any better Rontonio?
-
Don't really know as it's been in the shop for the last 2 weeks. I will know by Monday, crossing g my fingers

Aint that always the way!
-
Must be the day for that, I was lied to by one of our dispatchers on Monday, he said the load was supposed to load on Wednesday afternoon, I left the house last night, got within 180 miles of the load and called the customer to see what time they wanted me there this afternoon. He said it is not going to ship until Thursday, I call the dispatcher back and tell him to put another truck on it, he says to bring the trailer back and get a 2 axle then, I hung up the phone.
Called and talked with the big cheese, got everything sorted out, and now this dispatcher is kissing my ###, I think he got a well deserved ### chewing. I was so mad I was ready to quit. I can tolerate a lot of BS, but being lied to is one thing that I will not put up with.
