Nice padding......
Not worried about the rates out of here, as much as worrying about being able to unload the stuff we have on already!

I made it down to Houston this AM, kicked the load off the trailer, then ran up to Livingston to look at the piece I am picking up tomorrow.
Will load in the morning, right now I am sitting at the loves in Cleveland off of 59. -
Keep a P.M.A. good night

sitting at home trying to find my own truck, fed up with most companies, gonna try it n my own, if that don't work, the heck with it. Gave up on tanker, balls fell off when ice came down, sorry but not worth my life! glad to hear from ya all, stay warm out there, and safe.

Just camping in Denver. Decided. Wind surfing Cheyenne west in 50 + mph was no fun.

I always tell drivers when they call a company, to ask what the average driver makes and what the top driver makes. The top driver will make 1.5-2x the average pay. Same company, same equipment, same rules. You ran into ice, and you threw in the towel. "It's not worth my life." I hear that all the time from the guys who complain that they don't make any money. They cry, "oh, can't make any money out here no more. Oh, I am making minimum wage. Oh, I should go and be a burger flipper." Wait 5 minutes, and they will tell you why they don't make money.
Do a poll here in this forum. Ask who has driven through the ice in the southeast this year. THEN ask them how do they do it and how did they learn. See, one of the things that hurts the southeast is people learn to drive well enough to get their license, and that's as far as they want to go. They never apply themselves to learning. "Yep. Got my license. I am a professional. I can hold a steering wheel with the best of them."
Most drivers in the south think," it's icy out here! better creep along at 10 mph! I should be safe. If the road is banked, they slide off the road. If they're climbing a hill, they spin out. And the next thing they say is, "I ain't throwing on iron. Never chained up, ain't gonna start now. If you need chains, you need to park it."
1.5 to 2x the money, and they won't put chains on?
"Oh, but company policy says..."
... our drivers are stupid.
If I were a trucker ( and I am), and was from the southeast (and I am) and I saw drivers that could drive on the snow and ice safely (and I have), I would not rest, I would not be satisfied until I could drive as well as they could. I would not, could not be satisfied being average. Before I tried to be an owner operator or lease operator, I would make absolutely sure that I was above average, because the average driver doesn't make any money.
Round TWO, dude. Don't be so quick to throw in the towel. -
TripleSix Thanks this.
