Hmmmmmm, not too bad an idea!
Will be putting the rooftop AC on the new star when I get the time, along with the remote start for the Honda generator.
Will nee going with a low profile AC unit this time though, and painting the shroud to match.
Where is everyone #2!!

I like your new tag line. Sad but true so to speak..
Good luck with your test coming up. You probably know more about U.S. history than I do now.. -
They are heavy, probably added close to 180lbs between the two. But they will not bend.
-
You do good work Oscar.

Thank you, I have fun fabricating things out of metal.

Sitting in upstate NY Sippin a cool one.
Freightlinerbob Thanks this. -
That new roof top unit that you are going to put on, does it weigh the same as the one you put on your old truck?
-
I probably will know more than the average American! No doubt will forget it all soon enough though....
The new rooftop is @96lbs, which seems to be an industry average for them, as that is what the old one weighed too.

On a side note, it must be my "good deed" week.
While checking fluids under the hood, and getting ready to walk around with my tire pressure gauge, I notice an owner operator 2 trucks over with his hood open and scratching his head.
Turns out his tensioner pulley bearing bit the dust, and took part of the tensioner with it! Not cool, when it's the water pump, ac compressor and alternator belt.
I look at the pulley, say be right back, and dig out a spare pulley I had from the old short bus. I just fit new bearings in them when they go, so had 2 with brand new bearings in them in my big tool box, that were the exact same size as this guys Detroit pulleys! After some rigging, involving drilling a hole so a nut and bolt could hold the "new" pulley onto the tensioner, it's up and running again. Even managed to find a nut that fit perfectly into the 1/2" square hole where the socket goes to release the tension on the belt! Very lucky IMHO.
Told the guy $25 for the new bearing and I'll take his old pulley and fit a new bearing to it, and he made me take $40. Woohoo, most money I made today! Guy was pretty surprised when I told him the bearings are the same as a late 80's Mustang AC compressor clutch bearing, and gave him the part number.
It's going to be one of those fixes that lasts either 10 miles, or 10,000 miles. He's running his truck now to cool it off inside and make sure it doesnt all fall apart on him right away.
Of course, all these good deeds will bite me in the rear at some point, will probably blow a brake chamber on the trailer this week, then watch everyone drive on by me....
MartinFreightlinerbob and 53STEP Thank this. -
Good job Martin! Were those spares from the MBE?
