Would I qualify for the coveted RBG sticker (Rutherford Beancounter Group) if I go direct?
-
Now all you need, is to sign up for the KR/BM BS Seminar, telling you how get MPG with a slopey nose, drive like a Prime truck everywhere for maximum annoyance to the motoring public, preach to everyone that they are all doing it wrong, and so on.
I wonder if the direct 10 speed argument has anything to do with the number of fingers on both hands? Cant count higher than that or what? Things that make you go Hmmmmmmm......
Martinmilskired, MJ1657, Oscar the KW and 1 other person Thank this. -
Did your place get hammered this morning with the storms?
We were sleeping good untill about 5am and the storms hit here.
Sitting in the Petro shop getting a wheel seal replaced. Got the trk. serviced last night and they said rear end oil a little low. Ok why is it low?, where is the leak. Seems the right lead axle just started leaking. Not bad as the shoes are still dry. caught it in time.
Then off to the Mo. side to take my wife to a Thai place for lunch..
We went to a Thai place last night and all the ladies there were bragging on this other place.
Seems they make a Thai spicy salad there that is the best in the area. So you know what that means.. To all the married guys you you the drill. lol -
Cluck is going to do a book and a radio show for the non Beancounter crowd.passingthru69, leftlanetruckin and Cluck Cluck Thank this.

I've been getting over 7 mpg quite a bit lately. I better start pouring some out on the ground so I can still be a cool guy who don't care about all that fuel savings bean counting stuff.

Adventures in Beancounting.
Had a driver pick up a high dollar load near Griffin,Ga going to Ft Lewis,Wa. OD, loaded Friday night, he leaves out at 0900 Saturday. I stress to him the importance of being out of Tennessee before the sun goes down. He has to stop to get something to drink, and he stops at a big chain truckstop to get his fuel discount. It gets dark on him before he gets to Nashville, and he calls me bellyaching about being stuck at that TA east of Nashville all weekend. He delivers this load on the following Friday and sits for the weekend in Washington. That load should have delivered Tuesday.
had a driver pick up a load of plate steel 12'3 wide going from Claymont,DE to Navisota,TX. He missed his delivery Friday afternoon by 45 minutes because he chose to fuel en route at a Loves instead of the mom and pop joint he parked at Thursday night, because of the fuel discount and shower points."Enjoy your shower this weekend, amigo."
Ive often wondered why drivers do this. It became apparent that this is what they were taught at the mothership. Had a Beancounter from the mothership tell me that if I cut my speed from 65 to 55 that I will save $400a week in fuel and only lose 7 hours a week. 7 hours...
Would you rather empty out Friday morning or Friday afternoon? Would you rather empty out Thursday afternoon or Friday morning? 7 hours or $400 in savings? I'd rather have that 7 hours. You know, it only takes me 1 extra load to offset 5 weeks of extra fuel costs?
imagine if there was a Beancounter team in NASCAR. Instead of an 800 hp naturally aspirated car, they would run a detuned Prius (9volt battery instead of an 18 volt lithium). They would be 450 laps down at the Daytona 500. 1 man pit crew, all season tires, moron driver, and they would brag about the money they save. The really big savings comes when they continually fail to qualify. No sponsors, no wins, no income. "But we are saving money!"
Indeed.Oscar the KW, zenaddler and milskired Thank this. -
I've thought about doing a podcast or something of those sorts

There is a lot to be said for that, swapping in the trans I just did I lost 10 mph, and it really cut my throat.
I just spent 3 days getting out of Texas on a drive that would have taken about 12 hours.
Not only am I going slower, but being saddled with that feeling like I am back in study hall waiting for the bell to ring so I can go home isn't making it any easier to get down the road.
On that note it amazes me how many people can't figure out how to put a microwave in the truck, and a cooler and get to Costco and fill er up so you don't have to stop here there and everywhere when you get hungry. I don't even have to stop the truck to get a nice cold drink. -
your guy had a load from DE to TX without enough time built in to stop at Love's ? lol, yah better put fuel out of your mind if you're on that sort of time frame. NASCAR truckin !
