I'll just say I was in NYC that day.....
Not exactly great memories

 

I know most of you guys do your own work but what would you folks consider a reasonable shop rate? Been kicking around the idea of opening my own shop in the next year or 2. Its nice having a steady paycheque and pension but dealing with corporate BS wears on a guy after a while.

 

My go to guy charges $70/CDN I think and what's more he actually fixes stuff which is most important.

A reasonable shop rate doesn't save you nearly as much as a good mechanic. Sometimes $150 an hour is a lot cheaper than $50 an hour... To me, its a lot more about the wrench, than the rate.

 

Hey now, I'm up selling it to a little girl.

 

My go to guy is $50 usd an hour. I been telling him for years to raise his rate. I go to him because he’s good; he happens to be cheap.
