Well should say DOT recommends virgin steers, and not repairing them either. Not exactly illegal, but they gonna give ya a hard time if they see them.
And I know a lot of tire shops won't repair a steer tire either. Probably due to liability.

@Nostalgic
Putting my side kit on and remembered to get you pics of my bumper. Nothing fancy.

Speaking of snakes. Shot twice and still trying to strike at me

Could be. Tread will come off a virgin tire just like a recap when they get low from a leak and get hot. Usually faster on a steer since it's carrying more weight usually. 5,000+ lbs bearing down on that rim could have acted like a cookie cutter when it went all the way down too.
That's the way I learnt it. -
Well I'd hope ol' Doc wouldn't try to go after a rattlesnake. Course he may be able to handle one. But them dinosaurs might be fun to round up.

That sounds right. I was thinking about tire shops refusing to mount them on steer positions. I probably just remembered that wrong. They won't put a patch or a plug in a steer sounds familiar.
Folks are at the hospital today and it's been a little hectic here. -
Were you out working on a downed tree when you came across that wicked thing ?
