It wasn't a "package" so to speak. It was an industrial storage solutions place, you could buy as little or as much as you wanted. I would've opted for plywood but this was faster. One stop shop and slam it together.
Supposed to be good for 1400 pounds per shelf or some such.

Sad state of affairs right there. I didn't grow up on a farm but I worked on them a lot and looked forward to getting there whenever their was work to do and also looked forward to the actual work. It's pitiful what we have become and it's the same story everywhere in every industry.

I know a couple of General Contractors and it's the same story with them. They say IF you can get them to show up for work and keep them off of they're phones and do a decent job at whatever they are doing it's a pretty rare find.

And people wonder why there are so many foreign workers in this country.

I was in Boy Scouts growing up. Cubs to Venturers maybe rovers a bit. Not sure if the USA is the same but I digress, say 8-9 years old to 18-19. There was a volunteer badge. Signed up at the local library and small engine shop. Couple hours 2-3 days a week after school. That turned into my first paid job at the small engine shop at age 11. Worked one day a week after school and Saturdays. $5 an hour cash. We lived in the country. Good 30 minute bike ride in to work 45 minutes home. (Hills)
I miss doing the small square bales, those were good days. Helping the town fair set up and tear down and parking cars. Chasing cows and fixing fences.

I wouldn't even think of raising a child in a big city.

Very sad indeed. We just can't throw Joe blow in the machinery and turn them loose. The machines these days cost so much that you have to know what your doing. They need to be able to work long hard hours and be paying attention at all times.

The concrete guy that did the work on our house would have two or three kids with him to help and he had to constantly keep an eye on them. If he turned his back on them for awhile, they would screw something up or be pissing around on their phones. Some days he would just come up by himself and work and felt he could get more done without having to babysit them other guys.

You are a genuine hard-working guy @DDlighttruck! You started work at a young age and you like doing it to this day. I can see how hard you work and want to get things done. Sitting around is not an option. Good for you.

I was born and raised on the farm. I love to farm and the challenges it brings with it every day. I can't sit around either it drives me nuts I have have to be working on something all the time.

We were the same. Had to load bails and pick strawberrys every summer. I lied about my age at 13 to be a dishwasher/ potato peeler every Saturday and Sunday at the greasy spoon till I was old enough for a real job at the supermarket. Reastruant stated at 5 am. Sometimes I had to walk to work.

Dad said "if your not 15 min early your late.!!!!"

Some people have pretty hard jobs.
For instance this guy has been waiting for hours (according to him) and these dirty rotten dock workers won't load him.

I'm glad I do easy work.
