Unless I've got a hankering for some Nelson Bros and am heading back up the I94, my trip planning is usually I've got a "Point A" and a "Point B" and usually a fuel stop somewhere in the middle for each day.
But between the e-nanny limiting drive time, and a fairly limited top end (I wouldn't run the truck for more than a minute or two above 71-72 mph since that's around 1600 rpm), planning out 1-3 days in a row is almost necessary these days.
Like my trip next week. I've got 2200km (1366mi) to drive to get to Jefferson. 1100 (683) a day is about average for 10.5-11 hours at 65 mph (with traffic slowdowns, construction, etc), so I should get really close for delivery (looks like there is a "truck stop" in Linden that'll get me within 20 miles, and if I can make the Sapp Bros in Nebraska City on the I29, that's only 650 miles for day 2).
I don't know why they aren't a thing again yet. A COE with a drom boxes can turn a 53' conventional into the 60' truck that Walmart wants and is trying to get legalized.
That, and close-quarters, end-mile deliveries would be heavily improved with a tight turning COE.
I find it interesting that the monster Scania, MAN and Volvo 16L motors haven't been adapted for use over here. 700+ hp and gobs of torque, yet heavy haulers run the 605 15L Cummins and end up needing push trucks at a certain point. The sleeper layouts in the Euro trucks are insane given the available space they have.

What gets me is paccar owns DAF. The engine in those trucks is already legal here. The rest cant be that difficult to make road legal here given the standards in Europe. Sure thered be some engineering to make it LHD instead of RHD but that's just moving a few components not rebuilding an entire truck.1951 ford, Feedman, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 10 others Thank this.

I’ve been playing alone for a long time.
Maybe I’ll recruit -

I'm pretty sure EuroVI emissions standards are harsher than anything we've got over here, so that won't be a difficult change, and most trucks in Europe are LHD, only the UK is a RHD nation.
I'm pretty sure you can order an Argosy through FL still, including as a glider (Upper Deck in Ste Agathe, MB has one with a CAT), so I'm not sure why they aren't making a comeback. They've got powered, fold-out stair cases and a hydraulic lift for the cab. So the old hurdles are no longer there. -
06 was last year for it in the states, export is still available. 07 began the glider argosy but I'm not sure if it's still available here. I cant find any info at least on them still being built.

But one grew up to know something while the other one grew up to know nothing. Ask one what time it is, and you get an answer. Ask the other one what time it is and you get a four paragraph short story on which is more absorbent, a kotex or a tampax.
