Lol, yea Dad has to soak up the a/c a few times lol!! He’ll be 76 in December and is use to daily naps and a/c..... Remember our cousin Jim called him while we were eating? He told me later, man oh man.... I’m going to have some stories when I get back to the hills, they ain’t gonna believe some of this stuff.....

 

But but but...... no one said cool is comfortable

I spent a lot of time along this coastal area over the years, was good to see the smiles of recognition when I walked into the motels & restaurants. People remember you when your good to them, they also remember you when your mean to them......

 

Naw no buckwheat , did you know they don’t even serve sorghums at Cracker Barrel anymore? Use to enjoy sorghums with the biscuits here.......

 

Got supper there Friday night. Outstanding, like usual. Then had lunch at a independent place that can stand toe to toe with the Barrel yesterday. Hadn't eaten at either one for a few years and I dearly enjoyed both of them.

 

Only tried sorghum a couple times when I was a kid. I don't really care for it that much. I can't help it, I'm a suburban boy and I don't mean that Charbroiler 4 wheeler.

 

You may not have had good sorghums....? Some are strong, other is mild and sweeter. My recipe for homemade Bbq sauce uses sorghums as well as honey. I hope to get the family mill up and going again in the future, only been since 1974 that it was used last?

 

Only tried it from one jar that Dad got from someplace where we saw a horse powered contraption like in your picture and they were ( milling ? ) making it while we watched. Dad was a big fan of the stuff and hadn't had any for years. I don't recall him comparing it's quality to another batch or type. It had a " side taste " besides just sweet and I thought the side taste got stronger after a few months ? The second time I thought it tasted kind of sour besides the sweet. That was about 50 years ago and it's hard to remember.

 

You're gonna hate me but I don't really care for buckwheat either. It's okay but I prefer regular pancakes. I seldom have pancakes or waffles though. I sip Dr Pepper all day long but the syrup on waffles or pancakes I have to limit myself on. Energy level fluctuates too much on that stuff. The Crash hit's hard and fast from that.
