Nah. We run the same areas most the time. Ain’t too many roads out here I ain’t been down a whole bunch. I just mainly use it for times and distances. It’s not a truck GPS.

But yeah, you’re right, once off the blacktop it’s useless.

One of the things I taught my kids was always look at a man's hands....if they look like a bear claw you better keep your distance..... If they get ahold of you they ain't letting go.

I ain't goin' scrappin' behind the barn with @OLDSKOOLERnWV.... No way no how.....

At the BP (Coffee Cup?) in Vermilion, SD for the night. Didn't think I needed to push it much further than this. I'm 3 hours out from my delivery tomorrow morning and I don't like looking for a spot in the dark counting down to zero. I like pulling into a truck stop, having the pick of the litter and getting started earlier the next day after a delay.

I'm loading 67 miles away from the drop on the way back and my load info tells me "tarping: yes" but I don't believe for a second they want a grain dryer tarped. There isn't enough carpet in two trailers to protect a tarp, let alone my one, with a single box stuffed with everything I need. And I doubt I'll have enough drop to cover the whole thing... but I'm leaving that discovery for tomorrow.

Ha, what are the chances of that. :)

Yup that was me in the ole hoopty 660. Came off the 70S from my morning drop near Murfreesboro. Nice country, took the 55 outta there.

Mayfield ain’t a bad place. Doesn’t mean I’ll volunteer for lumber loads though... o_O

After searching for forklift parts today, I've decided when I have to call a different parts house, instead of my normal ones, I'm going to ask for the oldest, crankiest parts guy they have. You know, the one who's been around forever and relies on experience and memory for parts instead of a computer.

Me: " I'm calling to see if you have parts for and early 50's clark yardlift forklift."

Parts: "Do you have a model number and a serial number?"

Me: "Yes I do. The model number is XXXX. The serial number is XXX-XXXXX. "

Parts: "That's not enough numbers for the S/N, are there any more?"

    Me: "Nope, that's it."

Parts: "There has to be more numbers."

Me: :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: "It's an early 50's forklift, that's all there is."

If the deer-in-the-headlights look made a sound, it would be the long, silent pause while the parts guy tries to figure out what to do next.

Parts: "I'll have to email somebody and see if I can get some more information. I'll have to call you back."

    Me: "Sounds good, Thank You."

    Maybe he'll call back tomorrow.

I go into places expecting to tarp just about anything...ever tarp a header for a combine? Makes for a fun afternoon.

Hell, I’ve tarped a bloody forklift before.
