Almost 3pm and not looking good. Looked at flights leaving Saturday and returning Monday out of Dallas and $400-450 round trip isn't unreasonable. Might be able to convince the boss lady to fly me home instead of paying layover and diesel/hotel for three days. Or even split the flight cost 50/50 if nothing happens tomorrow. And heck, flying home for Saturday/Sunday would honestly be better than getting a load tomorrow and driving through the weekend to not be home on time.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm confused....a leak that doesn't show a pressure loss in 30 minutes is causing what symptom? The aftermarket CAC like Dura-lite, Detroit Radiator and the like are cheaper quality usually with less tubes / surface area but people snap them up because of their cost at the sacrifice of their performance.

Just my opinion but I believe you jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. I know zilch about Canadian geography and industry but there isn't a reputable outfit that has a solid history with decent equipment nearby? You're driving a contractor's truck but being paid company money while being promised a newish truck....just sounds like an "iffy" situation.

We ran with 2 guys that had big house sleepers

One was a gray T800 and the other was a 5700 star with American flag graphics

Both nice guys - we were outside carriers for your sister company

Every major flat deck outfit in Winnipeg wants drivers out 7-10 days on the regular (Wildwood, Big Freight and Searcy). So pretty much always either sitting like I am now, or doing a reset to get back. So I'm dammed if I do and dammed if I don't. Edit: forgot to add, infinitely more micro-management from all three as well.

My biggest thing is that my boss, while making pretty big boasts about her plans, isn't keeping things from me. She's being very forthcoming with everything that's been going on, even with the embezzlement issue she had earlier this year.

That kind of honesty isn't something I'll get from any other company in Manitoba (flat deck or otherwise), especially info regarding freight prices and lanes and stuff. She has told me more than once that she desperately wants more drivers like me and is going to do everything to hold onto them.

So, the next several weeks are going to be put up or shut up time. There's nothing she can do to make this situation better, it really is "just trucking". And that I can be patient with. I'm getting paid, I've been getting layover when it's owed to me, I've been getting miles, and I've been getting trips to places I've never been before (one of the things I emphasized from the start). Edit: and I'm not being told to shut the truck off and "tough out" the heat "because fuel costs".

So unless I get stuck in this Volvo for more than another month or two with constant promises and no delivery, I'm going to stick it out for now. I won't find outside of truck work paying nearly as much anywhere else (Searcy is the only one even close, and all they drive is auto Volvos) and the mileage rate/sign-on bonuses aren't going to be much different. Plus, ungoverened truck's aren't a thing anywhere else to my knowledge.

And to top it all off, and it's something I've kept secret from everyone but my wife so far, but the boss is looking at getting into lowboy RGN work and is planning on putting me on one when she gets the trailers next spring. 40-ton mechanicals to start and go from there. I always had in the back of my mind I'd likely be really good at OS/OD heavy haul and other than Wildwood, this would be my only doorway into that world where I live. That's not an opportunity I'd want to give up on lightly.

    --

The freight market is the pits right now in Canada. Our economy is stuck in a rut because of the election. Plus all of Trump's tariffs are killing exports south. It's rough but patience is king, and if I start letting it get to me, then that'll just effect my mental state again and I might end up doing something rash like going back to Paul's Hauling (or even worse, New Hope).

Well, it has slight bubbles. Tiny, wipe them off and came back. Not fast enough to see a psi drop. The power max is a fully welded like spectrum. Idk prolly buy a duralite now. It had no problems with 46lbs of boost. No performance issues yet. I only took it out for the annual back wash the radiator. Only tested it because it was setting on the floor and seemed like a good time too.
