In case anyone was wondering working on a fork truck is just as bad as working on a skidloader.

I was able to scrounge up a old chunk of airline to make up a hydraulic hose. Why I had the correct ends and was able to find them still has me scratchin' my head but we ain't blowin' fluid everywhere anymore.

I wrenched for a forklift dealer for little over a year. Actually didn't mind it too much. Loved the big 65k lb capacity ones the most.

    Skid steers. Hate 'em!

If a kind hearted woman with a nice rack would like to nurse me, I will not object.

Mid to late 60's I think
Many had a Cummins or 8v71
A guy from here had one that had a 8V92 with a 13 spd and a 4 spd aux pulling a cow bus

You men are correct, but as a world we are changing. There will always be the guys that were taught by real men. Elevator next to my lot that I dont work for had a 21 year old kid start driving the company truck. They never can get or keep drivers. He would preload the night before and roll out at 4am. He would pound it all day long everyday. Drove a little hard, but the equipment is junk and he is young. The board came out and wanted not to contract out hauling, but cut overtime too. The put him on 8 hours. He quit and went to work at the county for more pay. We as a industry need to try and retain guys like that. Because more than likely will never get them back in the industry. They will become successful someplace.

You can't take a facility that in the last 30 years needed 1 company and 1.5 contracted trucks and put it on the 1 company truck only 8 hours a day.

The old men on the board are the problem. Kids can learn.

If I had the work I would have put him to work.
