JD May sound harsh but its true. For what its worth Here's a story that might help you
Back in early 02 I was 7 and my brother was 3 when my dad got out of trucking to get into the blue stone business. A 282 teamster for almost 10 yrs tied for #1 on the seniority list. Got tired of the rat race of NYC day in and out. And Canron was closing down the conklin ny plant and wouldn't get enough hrs for union bennies. The only reason he signed up for the union. My mom stayed home to raise us
The stone did good the 1st few years. Economy good, stone moves like crazy. By 05-06 its slow and goes out gets his own numbers and buys a truck rents a wagon. Parked it in 07 with a 1200 month note and feeling like a failure and ***hole deep in debt.
The oilfield was just coming around at this time and my dad took a 12/hr job on a cement crew only because the boss said all the hrs he could stand.
All said and done he wishes he stayed at his gig instead of getting into stone. Said he'd be way more ahead of the game. My mom stuck with it the whole time and dad spent a lot of nights on the couch.
Where is everyone #5

They lost 11-8, some of the girls that can really hit didn't get on base. This is the first time she's lost at any sport and she wasn't upset so that's positive. I will post a video in a little while of her hitting.Westbound23, Zeviander, cke and 19 others Thank this. -
I can say that hauling cardboard boxes is recession proof. We probably have 100 customers and turn down work constantly. They've signed a couple multi million dollar deals recently, my company just did a 5 year contract renewal, and I got a 3 cpm raise. We are never slow since 2013, but especially since 2016.

My observation about trucking is the best trucking jobs are the ones where the companies main business isn’t trucking. Rugers company for example is in the business of selling chemicals not trucking. Mine is construction not trucking (construction is absolutely not recession proof but even if we’re dead they still need me) food service is definitely subject to recession pressure but it’s still fairly stable. If I ever leave this again it will be for chemicals.
