Gonna give you a quick tip. If that engine has not been turned over. Unbolt the clutch and put the adjuster to the bottom. If it has. Remove and start it. Run a few and shut it off. Then put adjuster at bottom. It's not 100% but if you do. About 80% of the time that engine will shut off with the adjuster at the bottom ready to adjust or darn close.

This is the level of lazy I'm at I'm my life.

Edit, leave alignment shaft in. Get that belting and jack off of it loosen bolts and retorque bolts.

The lenders I was referring to borrow money from the Fed at the discount window, rather than from other banks.

    Why?

It's simple and easy to qualify, and, it's always open. The interest might be a bit higher than borrowing from another bank, but it's the fast turn around they're after.

I'm not talking about your brick & mortar bank, where most of these loans would never even be considered.

Oh, that sucks!!! I hate pulling the valve cover off.

I found a bad cam lobe on my ISX at about 750k. Put it back together till I figured out what I wanted to do about it. I put a whole new motor in at 835k. Looks exactly the same as it did at 750. Made no detectable difference in performance or fuel economy to put the new engine in.

I need to pull the valve cover for the 3rd time on the new engine over thanksgiving and I am breading it big time. If I did pull it off and found what your looking at it would get adjusted and put right back into service. Check it again in 50k to 100k and see if it changes. Especially if it’s an Intake valve. This may not be sound advice but the cost to replace the cam and followers far surpassed the value of the truck. Same thing now. If I found the type of damaged you have it could easily go another 200k miles or more and not change. If you repair it it could be going bad in another 300k miles. Plus anytime a shop takes something apart I’d say the odds are good they will F something else up and you’ll be in worse shape than you are now? 2DE9F137-24C8-4ED0-8A91-AD4BF16EA81D.jpeg 6E38D44B-8FFD-4FD8-BA6A-5D69A3486EC1.jpeg

I don't know too much about the detroits but I wouldn't be too worried about it. Probably just a cummins issue. It is easy to throw a caliper on the end of the valve stems and make sure they are all relative.
I wasn't trying to get you worried about your motor, just sharing some difficulties I have ran into before.
