    Guy I used to work for has run his family towing company since 1968ish to current. Family owned since 1927 and a GMC Truck dealer too.

    He will tell you the 2 greatest things to happen to the towing industry are

    1. The invention of a hydraulic underlift
    2. Emission engines.

    I stated as much awhile back on here. I don't think any engine shop had guys sweeping holes in the floor while they waited for something to break.

    It's why we have electronic engines. The mechanical engine and stupid cowboy drivers kept the shop full. They melted them down.

    The first truck I drove at ODFL had 998,xxx when they took it off the road and the second one I got had 720,xxx and according to the shop in Parsons, KS neither had an major engine work done.
