I'm thinking like an Intertrashional or Freightliner. Something I wouldn't cry over if I slid it into a ditch on a bushroad lol.

Looks good but I vote for a chrome bumper. Have seen some horse haulers with fiberglass beds. From the side they look like a factory P/U bed. If you have any interest I can look for who made them in the future.
Do not recall a tail gate on those.1951 ford, Slowpoke KW, PoleCrusher and 4 others Thank this. -
I'd love to put the stainless steel gullwing bumper up front on mine. Really kind of torn on the idea though because the steel box bumper is original to the truck and it'd look pretty good once its painted up.Lysdexis, 1951 ford, Slowpoke KW and 4 others Thank this.

Painted the color of the body? No eh?
We all have personal preferences That will be a sharp truck you just have to keep your nose to the grindstone or the hoe to the row.
That is a major project so you must buckle down and perceiver. Most folks have no idea how much work you have in it already. Thanks for sharing it with us and please do not give up.Isafarmboy, Lysdexis, 1951 ford and 4 others Thank this. -
There's been a couple times I was ready to toss in the towel. Its a good thing I'm too lazy to write out a classified ad for it lol.beastr123, Isafarmboy, IH Truck Guy and 9 others Thank this.

That's pretty neat, but if I was you, it'd be getting a 5th wheel & a small bunk..
Reason being is I think I remember you post a ways back you were tiring of the current area you live. With your mechanical know how, I'd take it trucking for a year or 2 long haul. Get to see lots of new places, & when you find one you like maybe settle down there for a bit..
Maybe that's just a pipedream of my own I'm laying on you.? I'm sick of FL so I'm going to start keeping my eyes peeled for a more rural area when I'm on the road. Preferably by a lake. Feels like New Jersey around here, snow birds abound..
Load board was pretty awful again, so I'm still home. Gonna try again come Monday AM.. If it sucks still, I'll run some more trash bins down south..
It pays the bills, but I hate having the same run over & over..
I'm sure whatever you do with the W9, it will be sweet!!

I don't know how much a guy could find to haul. Its only a single axle and those old prechamber Cats are a pretty thirsty engine.Lysdexis, 1951 ford, Slowpoke KW and 4 others Thank this.

Florida has some nice rural areas... My father-in-law worked in experimental for John deere. They took moco's to South Florida every winter.
'88 we tossed two kids under three in the back of the Grand national and headed for Okeechobee. He took me out to where they was working and took my oldest for a ride in the tractor. Followed a orange truck back in...when it turned a corner and dumped some on the road I jumped out and snagged them. Peeling juice oranges and feedin' em to the boy...
Ran up the coast and watched a shuttle night launch.....spent thanksgiving on the beach.
There's alot of nice areas in Florida most never see. -
That's a great tale about picking up oranges spilled from one of them trucks! I'm gonna keep my eyes open to see I can catch that happen. Get a free snack on the road.
I live about 4 miles from the Tropicana plant in Bradenton. Matter of fact, the wind was blowing right this AM & I could smell the peels burning from my back porch..
You're right, there still are some nice, rural under developed areas, but they are slowly getting lost it seems. Most the cattle pasture, heck even the tree farm I worked at from 18-21 is gone, & are cookie cutter housing developments now, where you can't tell the difference between one house to the next..
The 80's, & 90's was a great time to be here. I won't lie, I had a good time growing up here. Woke up in the gray bar motel a half dozen times with no recollection on how or why.. Lots of time spent on the beach of Anna Maria island, surrounded by bikini clad girls, & late nights to say the least..
Sounds like your kids are about my age. 1983 for me..
I've been passing through Sebring, Lake Placid, Okeechobee, Clewiston, South Bay, all the little towns on US27 from Lake Wales to Pembroke pines. There are ok, but I don't speak a lick of spanglish & that's the majority, at least what I have observed, of the folks out there now. Plus, I'm about fed up with the humidity. Its 88% & 76° right now. There is a storm coming tomorrow afternoon, supposed to be in the 50's° on Sunday..
The space shuttle launches of the 80's & 90's were awesome.! We went as a family, I wanna say '88 or '89 & once as a school field trip in '90 or '91? I have to ask my ma, that would be wild if we was at the same one in '88.! Feel like it was daylight though, so probably not. I delivered some roofing materials in '18 to the Cape Canaveral base, & was probably within 200yds of the launch pad. Very neat day!!
As of now, I'm starting to like the Ocala area. Lochloosa is nice, little to the North on 301, has a lake, & a >9000 population. FL is all I've ever known. Lived in the same 5 mile radius since 6 months old. Just starting to feel like it's time for a change..
Man that was a long one..
