That's cool stuff! I love old history like that, especially going back now and seeing old foundations and other things left behind.

Kinda neat when they took that satellite imagery shot there was a train going by or parked there.

Hurricane Gustav finally tore down the pool wall, at one time I walked all across the top. The RR tracks are now closer than they were in those days, the walkway to the house is still there. The walkway and top of the pool are both decorated with broken tile in many colors....

We would put the boat in at the marina and follow the canal out to Pearl River, then head up Pearl and across Little Lake to get to the Rigolet RR bridge. By rail it was a full 10 miles. The Rigolet bridge is south of Slidell, LA and is the largest movable bridge owned by csx. It’s roughly 430 ft long and weighs 1.7 million lbs..... that just the part that opens! :)

I will post some pictures in the big load load thread when I get a chance.

Can you mail me two? My sweet corn rations have been depleted.

Sweet corn over wood fire, not much better than that. With cold beer.

Some of those Men are tough birds. One of my welding mentors closed his shop last December, at 92 years old. He'd still be going if it weren't for his pacemaker and welders not getting along together. He stops in every now and then to see what I'm doing and impart some wisdom. I wish I'd have met him sooner.
