Not being a smart arse, but even though a 15 has deep reduction, I never seen one rated as high as a rtlo18913 or rtlo20913 13speed. 800hp would be well over 2200 ft.lbs or torque.

Which series 15 speed are you running?

You are correct. 15 speeds are only rated for 1650 and yes I'm over that. I feel the deep reduction is still better on the other components then a 13 rated at 2050. A 13 hauling heavy tend to wear the clutch more starting off and is hard on the front main shaft bearing in my experience. As I said I would like a 18 but the cost to switch it would be the price of two reman 15's. Pulling a tranny in a long nose isn't that big of a job so I run what I got. The way you drive them is a big factor on how long they last. At my age these two trucks will last me till I'm done driving.

Bringing our loader home today. It turned out it needed injectors. She runs smooth as silk now.

Thanks I'm just used to a 13. after looking at some videos on YouTube it doesn't look too bad once you get the hang of it.

I never had the chance to get my 15 up to more than 1st gear in high range. Seems like there's a pretty big gap between 5th and 6th when compared to the low range gears though.

You could always switch it to a 13 if you prefer. The cost for either are about the same. I wouldn't let it be a determining factor whether to buy the truck or not.

When talking 15 speeds can get confusing because it's actually a 10 with deep reduction on the low side. When shifting out of 5 deep reduction the next gear in sequence is 4 low.

The gap between 5 low and six high is real close on mine and I'll often skip 6 depending on the grade.

Starting on a slight grade from stop loaded I'll start in 2 deep reduction, shift to third deep reduction then back to 2 low. I never preselect like they suggest. I think that's why I've never had a issue with the splitter.

The kid and I pulled into the mill last night around five. They tapped on the window at four this morning to unload. Pointed it towards the house. Have a cap spinning on the front dif on the kid's truck. Hopefully the new yoke shows up. Suppose to be 100 heat index here today.
