Say what you want about those WhiteGMC/Volvo Autocar but they're twice the truck a KW or Pete could ever hope to be out in the bush. Heavy but tough as nails. Fully huckbolted frames, tail frame rails, all steel crossmembers. My old man had one set up for logging. Never cracked a single crossmember in 4 years.

 

Worked on 93-97 WIA, slopped hood set back road tractors. The 95 and earlier had stamped steel crossmembers. They cracked all the time on those. Replaced them with the later multi piece aluminum one ever time. They ate steer axle spring pins. However ones with the Volvo steer axles, that tapered king pin lasted for ever and could be snugged up.

 

Fell in love with this on the interwebs today.

 

LoL, that seems about right. I like the hardest to find shaker hoods out there..

I'll stick to what I got then. Seen some pretty clean fld120 set backs like mine on the internet. I'll just keep saving what I can & get there one day..

That's interesting too. I figured moving the axle forward would be a bigger job than fitting a hood. Guess not..

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know how many inches difference there is between a set forward & set back fld120..? No biggie if you don't, just wondering..

 

I think his had all Rockwell axles. Don't recall him having problems with spring pins. Thinking he must've had a heavy steer axle because it had the hydraulic assist cylinder on the passenger side. Think it was an ACL64F model.

 

Is this the normal mounting position for the power steering reservoir on a 900A? Old man said the one on his old '78 was on the frame rail. Currently blocks the fuel primer and the mounting bracket looks pretty janky.

 

Got one setting in the shop. They were not fancy. But they were money makers.

 

Pour a little kerosene in hubs. Or when ya get back throw synthetic in them.

 

That ain't no special steel plates or blanks ! diversifying are we ??????
