Empty in Stewart. Nice little 650 mile run today. Now I gotta stay awake long enough to go get a washout and reload in redwood falls Minnesota then its big nap time.


Update on the pickem up truck. Number one rod broke slamming the piston into the head and possible poking a hole in the block.

Cant visually see the hole but I've got oil out of the side of the block.





And heres the number 1 spark plug. One might note the gap or lack there of. Couldn't get a pic down the hole but the engine wouldn't turn clockwise but would roll back. Piston didnt move so I poked it with a screw driver and it went all the way through so it probably shattered when it hit the head and the rings squeezing it is all that's keeping it together.



The options are
1) used ecoboost for roughly 2800 bucks.
2) reman ecoboost for 5600 plus 400 core since my core is likely no good due to having been vented.
3) 5.0 pull out with trans, harnesses, and ecm/tcm for 2800 bucks plus 175 shipping to get it to my door.

According to what I can find the body control module is in the passenger kick panel so it should be an easy enough swap to go 5.0 since it should all be plug and play and I dont believe I'll have to mess with the security system in the computers. If I do that shouldn't be that hard to get a tuner to flash everything so it plays nice together.

I'll order the engine Friday and try to get the ecoboost out and get pictures of the damage. May be able to get some of my money back from the good parts off the engine and the trans being just fine.

 

Need to get rid of the praying mantis head lights..... the vintage tag is a nice touch.....
