I think so, but I think the U wasn't as heavy built as the DM. Maybe more of a linehaul application truck?
Hence the fiberglass hood and trying to lighten it up possibly

Beaverdam, OH... Did the "drop" portion of a drop and hook a few hours ago in Lima.... Now have to wait until morning to get an empty trailer. So personal conveyance 15 miles bobtail to a decent truck stop with a shower was absolutely called for in this situation.

Seems like everyone of them I ever saw was at least double framed, some were triple framed.
