Pretty grim history here. Sunshine Skyway, I live almost exactly 10miles to the south of the summit. Connects Palmetto, & St. Petersburg, crossing Tampa Bay. Love the drive, crossed it daily for about 4 years when I worked in Tampa '06-'09.

The fishing pier you see on the left is part of the old bridge..
After the freighter took out the southbound lanes, N & S bound traffic crossed the bay on the remaining N bound side until the new bridge was completed. As a little tike, I remember my mom getting all sketched out as we'd approach the metal span with head on traffic, especially in the rain.. LoL

Any of you fine folks know of a good way to remove these old huck rivets on the KW cabs? Looking at my cab, thinking I may just replace the entire firewall and floor plate. She purty rusted up and thin under the cowl area. Thinking I might just go with a single flat steel panel and bend it to match the original.

I take my angle grinder with a cutting disc and die grinder with an arbor/cutting disc and cut halfway through the Huck side and then use my air hammer and chisel to knock it off. Then I use a punch in my air hammer to punch them out. It can definitely take some time to do.
Can you take a picture of the rivets for me?Brettj3876, Eldiablo, SAR and 4 others Thank this. -
Probably gonna have to grind them off. Seems like a ton of work but I guess it'd be cheaper than paying the bodyshop $180/hour to do it lol. -
