So let me lay this out before I hit the hay. I'd like some opinions, & let me premise the story by saying I hate canceling loads, have never canceled unless I arrived & it was too heavy for my rig, or over dimension. Never canceled for late, or breakdown..

So I finally put something together for a quick out & back one night stand.

Load tomorrow am
Lakeland, FL - Waycross, GA
deadhead to Statesboro
Statesboro, GA - Odessa, FL. Back home Friday evening.

So of course this bum TEXT me at 18:36 tonight, says all loads out of Lakeland, FL canceled for tomorrow. Doesn't answer the phone when I call back like a pansy. WTF dude.? Imagine if I, the trucker pulled this.. Going to send invoice for tonu, even if he keeps ducking me..

Anyways, it's always tough for me to leave FL, so chances of finding another good load 1st thing tomorrow am is a long shot. But I feel bad leaving the other shipper in Statesboro GA hanging for the Friday am pickup. His load is good, but not good enough to bounce up mt just to bring back home..

Do I
A- grab a garbage $1.20-$1.50 mile load up to GA just so I don't leave the GA shipper hanging.?
B- Cancel on him, because load up cancelled on me.
C- deadhead up & just fulfill my commitment (don't contribute to garbage rates)

But like I said, Statesboro to Odessa is a good rate, but not really good enough once the rate is wacked in half if I deadhead up..

 

Cancel. They’ll understand.

 

That's how I'm leaning right now too. GA only needs to be loaded by 1600 on Friday, so if I cancel by 0900, that will give them 28-30hours to find another truck..

I dread making the cancel call..
