No mechanical breakdowns today, but we haven't had much rain to speak of lately, very bad for the young plants coming up.
Spent all day Monday, today, and tomorrow hooking up irrigation so we don't lose the crops. Glad we have the pond to pump out of, as it would drain the well for sure. Pumped 550 gallons of collected rain water, along with another 550 from the pond today. It was 92 today in the shade and gonna be even hotter tomorrow. We normally don't see this until August. It's been a strange year thus far, in more ways than one.
Well boys, have a good night. It gets light at 5 AM and I'm beat down, hitting the rack...whoopNride, 650cat425, PoleCrusher and 9 others Thank this. -

it is a possibility, if we have to drop the trailers for any period of time - all 3 trailers are chained together and then chained to giant concrete blocks to keep them from blowing over.
When some 3 axle guys Couldn’t make weight to enter OK - they had to bring wreckers out to support the trailer while switching out to 4 axle guys.
frankly, it is just a mess when breakdowns happen doing this stuff.
I need to acknowledge my pilot cars today for going above and beyond - doing traffic control for almost 3 hours in the hot sun and not #####ing or crying about it. So yes I took them out to dinner as a very small thank you.
while it is crappy to breakdown - it is awesome when the teamwork makes it come out safely.Deere hunter, whoopNride, 650cat425 and 18 others Thank this. -
When I left the mine i had to use the 3k overhead shop crane for my box. Anything over 75% capacity supposed to be an engineered lift. 2700lb box. Nope. Placed it into and brand new truck with no wood. Made 2 tracks as the wheels mushed the new box. That's what ya get when I get 4 hours notice my company contract is not being renewed.650cat425, PoleCrusher, cke and 5 others Thank this.

Don't blame ya one bit. Probably would've been a 6 hour job if ya had to fill out the FLRA, fill out a critical lift plan, get a safe work permit, find a supervisor to sign off on it, review the job, find a rigger to rig it up, load it, strap it down, sign off the permit and get the transport documents filled out to let you take your own gear off site.650cat425, PoleCrusher, cke and 5 others Thank this.

If it's any consolation, my stomach churned when I read that.peterbilt_2005, 650cat425, PoleCrusher and 6 others Thank this.

Security couldn't come out and inspect and seal it for 5 days. That was not acceptable. It left with a material pass sealed to it. The other guy I worked with, who believed the "we will figure this out, dont worry " spiel waited until his site access card didn't work to remove his. Took him 4 months, and it looked like they dragged it to Edmonton.650cat425, PoleCrusher, cke and 4 others Thank this.
