If I keep the windows up I can't hear it lol. I definitely notice it with the windows down when driving at low speed past parked cars or walls. Definitely the driver's side. Passenger side you can barely hear it.

Watched a youtube video on how to change the VCT solenoids and it literally looks like something I could hammer out in under 90 minutes. Coil packs out, valve cover off, 4 bolts to replace the 2 solenoids and then back together. Seems the pin inside the solenoid gums up and stops actuating the phaser properly. Just hate to spend a few hundred bucks on a guess though.

 

Try heavier oil first.

 

Lol. I meant the cams and intake... then exhaust, maybe some more tuning...

 

I switched from 5W-20 to 5W-30 a few months back, before this issue developed.

 

I've read you can unplug the VCT solenoids and if the noise goes away, they're the problem. Although all the info I can find seems to relate to the 5.4L and not the 5.0L

Kind of hesitant to unplug a component that alters the crank/cam timing and go drive around. With my luck I'd end up with a bunch of bent valves.

That's the exact same integral 42" cab/bunk I currently have, minus the cab extenders..

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, I see part of the sleeper curtain not tied back, right up against the passenger seatback. No cabinets, no wall, same as I got now..

That's why I was concerned about the '92 Classic. Only having the small center opening. Gonna be like driving a day cab..

Haha i was gon ask that. Same with 48 on the 99. Nothing lol. The bed and that's it. No shelves up above or anything.
