Yes. But speaking from a management point of view it makes me sick. You lead by example. I was taught to never ask a employee to do something you wouldn't or couldn't do yourself. If that is the case you do it together and learn.
I know this makes me strange, but I was raised and taught mostly by your generation and older. It's just the right way.
Now if the guy just bought the truck and put himself to work. It's on himself. Hope he is a quick learner and dont kill nobody. -

A decade ago, I was walking through the office. I hear my travel agent on the phone, “Read your permit! READ YOUR PERMIT!!!”
What’s going on?
“I have a new driver pulling an oversized and he’s panicking.”
Where is he at?
“Pennsylvania.”
Uhoh...
“What’s wrong?”
Do you have a copy of his Pennsylvania permit? And let me see your road atlas and give me that phone.
New driver. I got his route down and had him write notes on the back of his permits. Haven’t been to PA in a decade, so I don’t know if it changed, but the routing used to say SR00081, SR00070 and stuff like that. We, you and I, would know that, but a new driver and a desk jockey would not. And back in those days, PA had that funky exit numbering system that made it nearly impossible to trip plan on the fly.
When I started flatbed, because I had no experience open deck, I had to work on the yard for a week. There was an aluminum mill down the road. The yard guys would go to the mill, load and secure and tarp and park the loaded trailers on the yard. I got in on this gig where we were pulling big loads to this gigantic construction site somewhere near Tunica Mississippi. I am glad I had other drivers with me when starting out because I was a kid and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.Lostkeys, cke, Superhauler and 8 others Thank this. -
