Just get some snow socks. Way better than chains. They have their limitations but if i just need to get up and over a mountain pass the socks are coming out.

3.08 hence the reason I need a 13spd. I’m at %34 deadhead so far this year. Usually over %20. Then another 25 or 30% is super light freight. So %50 of the time I’m empty or super light. It should pull close to the same in the high side of 7th gear as what it dose now with the 3.73. Then it still leaves another gear and a half over that. Most only split the top gear when running a 13 spd anyway. I almost never need to drop out of 10th now unless I’m over in the Rockies. I’ll have to do some shifting now I’m sure but cruising acros the flat lands at 1300 rpm instead of 1700 will be nice when I’m empty.
I know it’s not a popular way to do things to most on here but, I don’t haul heavy or off road. Mostly just flat land freeway. It will be nice to open her up across Wyoming when Im deadheading back to Iowa to pick up my cheap freight? Lol

I’m afraid the old cut off rails are shot under the 5th wheel plate? The axle housings are in good shape under the U bolts. I put in a couple of new z springs last year so we had it all apart. I’m sure the front diff will need a rebuilt. Housings Might be something to get started with?

Swapped out the air lines for the trailer earlier. Used the 15ft long black lines that are loomed together with the electric cord. Guess Ive never done this style before because I couldn't figure out to keep the blue line from twisting after tightening the red line down. The crimp fitting wouldn't spin like I thought it would. I don't have the trailer here so I couldn't check to see if Ive got any leaks or not, guess it'll have to wait till early in the am.

We’ll probably stretch it out a little bit more? Seems I need a little more room at the front? I have a 16” kingpin but if I get a new 53’ it will need to be a 30” right? 72E65020-8BCF-48EE-B080-ABD31725DD89.jpeg

@TripleSix went back into the gym again today, ignored the weight and beat the lift I failed Friday by 10 lbs. Just 20 lbs shy of my target squat now.

LoL, wow that's pretty tight clearance to the headache cabinet!!

Kingpin doesn't necessarily have to be 30" on a 53'. Just depends what states you run in, & will have to contend with their kpra laws.

Personally I don't think I would opt for a 53' fixed spread CA legal. IMO they look kinda funny. If you go with a 53', look at the ones with the sliding rear axle. Then if you get a shallow ~14-18" kingpin, with the spread closed up you'll just have 11.5' of tail overhang instead of 10.5' with a 30" pin..

You could also get one with a 2 position kingpin.? Have like a 18" & 30". Just use the whichever one the situation calls for..?

So many options when trailer shopping can make the head spin.! Well at least mine.. :D

You know your operation way better than I. I'm sure you'll spec out exactly what you need..

This may help. If you just run around in mostly the green states you can probably get by with a 53' fixed spread..
