    I would personally weld the cracks, on both sides, then weld 3" x 3" x 1/4" plates over the holes and drill the plates through the original holes. Rotate the plates 45* from vertical (so it looks like a diamond instead of a square).
    You would be amazed at the rework on repairs, because very few people will weld the backside. One of my mentors always told me,
    "Only a fool skips a back weld".

    I was kinda thinking if you took some inch round stock and made a half inch thick bung and welded on both sides before ever mounting the boxes if it would eliminate the issue in the future?

    Just curious....I never typically dealt with that much web on beams with that much weight hanging. With what we were doing we always made plate mounts.
