It's a mixed bag. Not that I've been everywhere, but of the ones I've been to, none at all have been the same. Pickup at one end, full truck search, run background check, etc. then deliver without even speaking to anyone or seeing even a whiff of security. Another pickup, just flash a Twic card at the gate, but then at delivery, background check, 2 forms of id, registration, insurance, and digital finger prints.
Some places insist on escorts, others expect you to already know where you're going even if no one has told you.
Today they were so helpful that they even tightened the binders I had just loosened before I could pull the chains off lol.
Thing that gets me is most of "those places" act like you are a huge PIA when you ask them to adjust it. My favorite is when you aren't even half done throwing chains or straps and they're like "wow you're really secure! that ain't going nowhere!" just to get you out of their sight.

Oh yeah man I completely had what you were saying ### backwards and what was holding me back was what I was doing with that extra slack; it wasn’t until I watched a little video on YouTube and seen this guy advertising some brand of ratchet binder did I realize you loop around the stake pocket just enough to hook back onto the chain with the excess slack on the deck, then pull the top end of the chain tight/hook both ends with the binder rofl I kept pulling the whole dang thing tight and that’s why all that slack was hanging down like thatLast edited: Aug 28, 2020

You'd be surprised how much they need to up their game at the gate of LOTS of Military bases. I hit one usually once a month..
Cape Canaveral Air force station, they are on point. Ain't getting nothing past them boys, & their K9's.. Hood open, doors open, while you are locked up in a 10×10 box with the MP's while they rifle through the rig..
Aberdeen Proving Grounds is another. The main gate wasn't too bad, but the secondary clearance was pretty serious. Facial recognition scan, FBI electronic fingerprints, lots of paperwork, & waiting. I had on a prototype self deploying staircase for an aircraft..Swine hauler, D.Tibbitt, 650cat425 and 9 others Thank this. -

Should’ve quoted @OLDSKOOLERnWV since it would seem you were just playing along with him; @Hurricane69 ‘s position on this is a fair and respectable one but I’m sure you didn’t know he doesn’t like those kinds of jokes; for what it’s worth I could care less if you turn everything I say around like that lol made a bad joke or two myself, imo the world would be awful boring without laughter, but maybe dirty jokes get a little stale after awhile.
On a side note, is it ever gonna stop friggin raining wherever the hell I am? I don’t have a raincoat and I need to work on my chains and binders

Thank you sir!
I was thinking a single plate, or plates on each side of the frame. Your way makes better sense though. So now I know what to look for, to make sure the job is done right.Swine hauler, 1951 ford, D.Tibbitt and 5 others Thank this.
